Betsfred was designed by Reginald J. Wadsworth with architects Bissell & Sinkler for Frederick P. Ristine, an investment broker. The estate included a walled English garden which was designed by Walter Sheffield. Ristine became director of many institutions, including the Wayne Title & Trust, before creating his own banking firm Ristine & Conklin. Betsfred was renamed Tanivul and continues to be a private residence.
1902: Ristine founds Ristine & Conklin
1929: Betsfred completed
1959: Ristine dies
