Weltvreten was designed by John T. Windrim for Edward A. Schmidt. Schmidt was president of C. Schmidt & Sons, which was Philadelphia’s largest brewery at the time. The style of the house was a combination of English Tudor and German medieval. The house was furnished with European imports and stained glass depictions of German folklore figures. The mansion was demolished in the 1960’s.
