The Radnor School Board, ever trying to figure out what is best for the new Middle School project, is now considering tearing down the 1901 Administration Building, formerly the Wayne Grammar School. The building was only the second public school building in the district, making it the oldest public school in the township. It was designed by local architect David Knickerbacker Boyd, who designed many notable buildings in Wayne.
The building is significant historically and architecturally. However, if the School Board decides that it interferes with the plan for the new Middle School, then this Wayne landmark of 103 years may be lost forever.
The picture on the left is a computer rendering of what the demolition might look like if it were to take place. More about the building's history here.
