Radnor Trail Complete

January 13 2005

Since first introduced in 1976, the issue of whether to convert the abandoned Philadelphia & Western right-of-way in Radnor Township into a hiking and biking trail has dominated local politics. Today, nearly 10 years after the voters of Radnor Township decided to approve the plan, the trail is complete. It took many delays and tribulations throughout the years, but today the residents who long ago said they wanted the trail are free to enjoy it. And they are definitely taking advantage of it; on a Friday morning in January there was hardly a lull in traffic. It seems that finally, after 29 years, this historic saga is over.

UPDATE: Though the trail is being used by many people today, Radnor Township has announced that the official ceremonial grand opening of the trail will take place on Saturday, April 16, 2005 (raindate April 17).
