One of Wayne's most famous natives, Anna Moffo, died in Manhattan March 9th. Moffo was the daughter of a Wayne shoemaker whose brilliant singing career began while attending Radnor High School. At the school, Moffo was a star athlete as well as performer. She has been remembered fondly by her fellow Class of 1950 graduates, who saw her last at their 50th reunion in 2000.
Anna Moffo became a Metropolitan Opera star in the 1960s. She had her own television program in Italy, and has been remembered long after her retirement in opera circles.
