This page chronicles the design of the Radnor Township Centennial logo, designed by Greg Prichard (this site’s webmaster) and used from 2001-2002.

In late 2000 I was approached by John Dale, the Radnor Historical Society’s representative to the Radnor Township Centennial Committee to design the logo for the next year’s festivities. Now here’s a walking tour of the logo’s evolution, from sketches to the final product.

The first sketches of the logo. These were done literally as soon as I was given the job.

These were the first sketches submitted to the centennial committee. They liked aspects from both. The top one is a vertical version of the final design, and the bottom was a horizontal version without the gryphon and curved ribbon.

In the next design I incorporated the horizontal design with the pictorial elements and the curved ribbon. The committee decided that the images made the logo too busy, although the gryphon image should stay.

The final design, ready to be computerized. The pictures were taken out, with the exception of the gryphon at top.

The first computerized version of the logo. This was the first version of the logo to appear in the Suburban and Wayne Times, just a few days after it was made.

I was unsatisfied with several elements of the computerized logo, and with my guidance this, the final logo, was made soon after the first.
